BIDDING & BUYING
When attending an auction there are several things that you should know, especially when bidding.
All items are to be sold "As-is, Where is" and for your own protection you should attend the viewing to have a look at what you are buying. When looking at vehicles make note of license plates and stickers as not all vehicles are sold with them in tact.
THE PRE-VIEWING
First and foremost, we highly recommend that you inspect the items that you are interested in before bidding on them. We hold viewings before each sale where you may view all the items. You may start any vehicle engines on the viewing days, but may not test drive them. On the day of the viewing obtain a handout with a list of the items to be auctioned with the lot numbers in tact. Make notes on which items you are interested in and make sure they match up with the handout lot numbers. The handout is just a guide and it is up to you to inspect the items and verify its age, condition, etc.
LEAVING A PRE-BID
If after the viewing you realize that you cannot attend the auction but are very interested in an item you may leave a pre-bid with us. A pre-bid is a bid where we have someone bid on your behalf. You leave us your contact information along with a lot number and description of the item and the top dollar that you wish to spend on the item. This does not necessarily mean that that amount is what you will pay, as you may get the item significantly cheaper. If your pre-bid is accepted the auctioneer will announce that it has been "sold to a pre-bid" keeping your personal information completely confidential. We will contact you the day after the sale if your pre-bid is successful. If bidding on a vehicle a deposit will still be required when leaving a pre-bid.
REGISTERING
On the day of the auction you must register to obtain a bidding number. To register you must provide the following information, all of which is completely confidential:

DURING THE AUCTION
After registering and leaving your deposit, if needed, you may proceed to the auction area. In most cases, items will be auctioned in order of the handout starting at number one and proceeding to the last item on the handout. Please remember to stay out of the isles so that everyone can have a clear view of what they are bidding on. Make sure that the auctioneer or spotter sees you when you are bidding. Keep eye contact with your auctioneer and pay close attention to what they are saying.
When bidding on vehicles you may hear the auctioneer shout, "We will take your offer". This simply means that there is an asking price on the vehicle and your bid hasn't reached their price. In this case we will take the highest bid, if close enough to the asking price, and negotiate with the consignor. When this occurs it may take a day or two to get a counter offer on the table from them. We will then contact you and the negotiation will continue until an offer is accepted or rejected and we will keep your deposit until then.
PAYING FOR & REMOVING YOUR GOODS
After you have finished bidding you may pay for your purchases. All items purchased must be paid in full before removing from the site. Household items must be paid for on the day of the auction where as you have until the day following the auction to pay for vehicles. If off-site the auctioneer will announce the terms for removal of the items.
Please note that most off-site auctions do not allow for debit or credit card payments.
When purchasing a vehicle you must remember that taxes are paid to us and are included in your balance. They do not have to be paid to MVR. You should remember to apply your insurance to the vehicle and get anything else you may need to transport the vehicle safely.
